I would like to congratulate Dale on recently receiving an internship position on Apple’s Remote Desktop team. Dale is a very talented developer, he has written all of the scripts in Corripio along with designing the main icon. I know that he will be a great addition to the ARD project.

Good luck Dale!

BarCamp Boston 2

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 03/20 at 08:00 PM

This past weekend was BarCamp Boston 2 and man was it fun! A bunch of friends and I entered the programming contest and got 3rd with Geneguin a Genetic Penguin Breeding Program. A video of all the entries can be found here. I also demoed HAL9000, a small speech recognition app that I made and soon to release here when the new site gets launched in a few weeks.

In regards to upcoming software. We are getting ready to release 3 new apps, one of which is HAL. They will all be free and GPL’ed. I am in the middle of reworking some of Corripio’s artwork code for much better stability. Look for it in the coming weeks as well.

Dev House Boston Over

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 12/14 at 09:37 AM

This past weekend I attended Dev House Boston and with the help of Dan Pickett, Kyle Bradshaw, and Corey Goldberg I was able to add new functionality to Corripio. I had no intentions to work on Corripio when I got to Dev House, however Kyle heard that I was a Mac developer and was wondering if there were any Mac equivalents to Tag & Rename. So from there we set out to add the ability to fetch missing tag information from the web via Amazon. We were able to finish the ruby script that pulls the information from Amazon by the time the day was over. I am still working on incorporating it into Corripio, look for it in the next version.

iTunes 7 … My Thoughts

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 09/12 at 01:04 PM

First off I want to say that I am very happy to see that Apple added artwork download functionality into iTunes 7. The reason that I made Corripio in the first place was to fill a void that Apple had left in regards to album art in iTunes. They now allow you to download artwork for your music from the iTunes Music Store right in iTunes. Back in May Apple crippled the “ability” to download artwork from the iTMS, it worked some of the time for reasons unknown. So I am glad that it is open to us again.

Remember that Corripio is no longer just a album art application. Corripio now has the ability to fix tags, get lyrics, and obscure artwork. Remember that iTunes can still only get albums that are in the iTMS. Therefore you will still not be able to get artwork for say The Beatles.

So I am pleased with the update to iTunes. It looks like a solid upgrade. I can now listen to Abbey Road the way it was meant to be, without gaps.

Later this week I will launch beta.nclasssoftware.com where you will be able to get the latest builds of our apps. Corripio is still going to be developed. I will soon be implementing the new tag features that will allow you to find missing/incorrect tag information for your songs from the web. As well as better lyrics support.

Coming Home

I’m getting ready to head back tomorrow. I had a blast here in California for WWDC. There are going to be a lot of new things coming in Corripio, thanks to a greater understanding of Mac UI and Cocoa programming. I hope to come back next year! Now I need to get packing and remove all my bottles (and snakes) from my carry on luggage.

I also got some work done on Corripio on the plane (what else am I going to do for 6 hours?). Let me know if this beta crashes when you skip. Get 0.5.2b here.

Drama at the Prom

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 06/13 at 04:54 PM

image

Well we had our Prom Friday night and some kids were suspected of drinking while at the prom after a water bottle was found underneath their table. Some were said to have been told they had to be tested by drawing blood at a local hospital before they could return to the prom. The news has picked up this story and I have posted some of the video clips in case you missed it. Also New Jersey 101.5 is trying to hold a “Prom 2” for us. They also stated that when our principal Hughes gets up to talk that we should rise and turn our backs to him. I would love to do/see this and hopefully others will. I recorded some of the audio, however some of it is choppy.
