I am looking forward to seeing what new goodies Apple has to unveil along with the events planned throughout the week. I hope to come back with as much information my brain can process. With that new information I hope to add new features to Corripio as well as our next application big surprise . I hope to see you there!

0.5.1 Quick Release

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 08/03 at 11:57 AM

Today I released 0.5.1. I normally do not like releasing a new version just 2 days after another one because it makes me look sloppy. However a bug came up that was not caught in any of the betas or release candidates that caused Corripio to crash when skipping artwork. I was able to fix that along with my spelling and capitalization errors. So I am sorry that I released it so suddenly but I think its better that the users have the most stable release possible.

Update:

The skipping bug also may be related to your computer being behind a web proxy causing no artwork to be downloaded causing a blank selection. If this is the case with anyone, please comment.

I would not recommend selecting “Show All Artwork From All Sources” in the preferences. This feature searches all the sources at once and will result in many results and seems to be where the skipping bug is. If you leave it unchecked Corripio will search each source at once, if nothing is found at one source it will move on to the next one.

Slow Bandwidth

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 08/01 at 09:17 AM

Here at nClass Software we host and run our own server. However being recent high school graduates and not having many options for high speed internet, we can only get 1mbit upload speeds for $99 a month. So I apologize for any inconveniences due to our page load times. If anybody knows of any ISPs (reasonably priced) with upload speeds greater than 1mbit in New Jersey, please e-mail us. Our current dilemma can be summed up by Sen. Ted Stevens, “nClass servers internet tubes are currently being filled up with enormous amounts of material.”

Last Day For Parallels $49.99 Deal

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 07/15 at 07:49 AM

    Solaris 10

Late last night I finally bought Parallels the virtual machine software for the Mac. Earlier this year I sold all my PCs to buy a new intel iMac leaving me with a iBook. The one thing that I had to part with was Linux. I have used boot camp on other Macs but it just runs poorly in my opinion. I waited off on buying Parallels because funds are short. Then I saw that the $30 discount ended on the 15th and bought it right away. If you have not purchased it, I highly recommend it if you need to run multiple operating systems. So far I have installed Windows and Solaris 10. Windows was a seamless install, whereas Solaris needed some tweaking. To install Solaris 10 I needed to use the text based installer and then edit the X11 config. You can purchase Parallels at http://www.parallels.com/ it’s truly worth it.

    New Things Coming In Corripio:

Well so I have been putting a lot of work and features into the next release (0.5). The most noticeable enhancement is the new icon by Dale Taylor. It still may have a few more tweaks before I release it, however it’s pretty much it. I still do not plan to release 0.5 for another few weeks. This is going to be a very large release and from 0.6 to 1.0 will be mostly speed, memory and minor fix releases. In the next week I will be putting up a beta page where you can download the latest builds of our Apps.

    What’s Coming:

  • Sort by playlist
  • Large artwork view
  • Lyrics
  • Show artwork size
  • Better results
  • Revert to original tags
  • Much better tag fixing
  • Get missing info for song (Album, Track, Year, Composer, ect...)
  • User Interface Enhancements

  • Bugs Fixed:
  • Loss of last cover when mulit artwork found
  • Extraneous artwork from buy.com
  • Number of results

I still have yet to see it in person, but I am told it’s on p64. All I can say is that I am very pleased smile . I’ll be sure to scan in the article once I get the issue.

    Update:
I found it also in Playlist Magazine.

    Drama at the Prom

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 06/13 at 04:54 PM

    image

Well we had our Prom Friday night and some kids were suspected of drinking while at the prom after a water bottle was found underneath their table. Some were said to have been told they had to be tested by drawing blood at a local hospital before they could return to the prom. The news has picked up this story and I have posted some of the video clips in case you missed it. Also New Jersey 101.5 is trying to hold a “Prom 2” for us. They also stated that when our principal Hughes gets up to talk that we should rise and turn our backs to him. I would love to do/see this and hopefully others will. I recorded some of the audio, however some of it is choppy.

Accepted For WWDC 2006 Student Scholarship!

Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 06/12 at 04:44 PM

    image

So today I was very pleased to get an e-mail from Apple telling me that I was awarded the WWDC 2006 Student Scholarship. So this saves me $1,600 I was trying to put together to go to WWDC. Dale also applied and is still waiting to hear back. I am very excited now, and am readying 0.5 of Corripio for submission for the Apple Design Awards, even tho I have no chance. Anyone else planning on going to WWDC?
