iTunes 7 … My Thoughts
Posted by Jeff Dlouhy on 09/12 at 01:04 PMFirst off I want to say that I am very happy to see that Apple added artwork download functionality into iTunes 7. The reason that I made Corripio in the first place was to fill a void that Apple had left in regards to album art in iTunes. They now allow you to download artwork for your music from the iTunes Music Store right in iTunes. Back in May Apple crippled the “ability” to download artwork from the iTMS, it worked some of the time for reasons unknown. So I am glad that it is open to us again.
Remember that Corripio is no longer just a album art application. Corripio now has the ability to fix tags, get lyrics, and obscure artwork. Remember that iTunes can still only get albums that are in the iTMS. Therefore you will still not be able to get artwork for say The Beatles.
So I am pleased with the update to iTunes. It looks like a solid upgrade. I can now listen to Abbey Road the way it was meant to be, without gaps.
Later this week I will launch beta.nclasssoftware.com where you will be able to get the latest builds of our apps. Corripio is still going to be developed. I will soon be implementing the new tag features that will allow you to find missing/incorrect tag information for your songs from the web. As well as better lyrics support.

September 22nd, 2006 at 1:56 amGreat app! I love it! Please also remember that only iTMS members can get art work. If you live in a non-approved country iTMS will not accept your membership and you can’t get artwork. This means that over 70% of the worlds population can’t use the art work feature. I live in HK so Corripio is my only hope! Glad to hear you will keep developing it.
Thank you so much.

September 28th, 2006 at 8:02 pmI have to disagree with the other iTunes users, I have an United States account on iTunes, and I DO get 600x600 high resolution artwork, and not just only for the United States! I got a french album called “Nâdiya” and when I switched the iTunes Store to France, I was able to download the art!

September 29th, 2006 at 1:11 pmI have a gripe with iT7… With the previous version of iT… when listening to a Podcast, you could quickly jump to different ‘chapters’ (?) within the Podcast by using a dropdown menu button to the right of the ‘display.’ This function seems to have been eliminated.

November 20th, 2006 at 6:54 pmHi… I have a very large iTunes Library, none of which I have purchased via iTunes, That said...I have spent a great deal of time adding artwork, via tagging. And also I have added album reviews to all of my music folders in my data base. Lately I have started adding the “reviews” to my itunes buy using the ‘Lyrics’ window. This was going along very nicely for awhile, and then all of a sudden I could no longer make the pasted info in the ‘Lyric’ windows stay. As soon as I closed the window it would disappear. I think the same would apply, if I was adding lyrics. after-all it is just text. This problem seems to have arrived with iTunes 7, and so far I have not been able to find a workable solution.

September 18th, 2006 at 9:13 amI can confirm the iTunes only gives you 300x300 pixel artwork. What’s worse it also only seems to search the US iTunes store which means for me as a UK customer with UK edition CDs it often results in incorrect artwork.
Would it be possible for the author of Corripio to do a trace of iTunes 7 downloading artwork and reproducing this process in Corripio? At worst it might only be possible to also get 300x300 this way but that would be some progress.
If we are lucky, this might be adaptable to searching a chosen iTunes store and modifying URLs to get the 600x600 version artwork (until Apple break it again).
